Election Day @ Diener!

DAILY UPDATE: Tuesday, November 4, 2008 – ELECTION DAY!!

Ms. Debbie's Class:
1.) Today we started the day by using our new "Circle Time Center" which the kids really enjoy! We had a guest in our class, Teddy's sister Corinne, and she read "The Rainbow Fish" to the class. After the story, she nicely answered everyone's questions.
2.) During Language Arts we voted on our favorite ice cream flavor. We also discussed what it means to be a good "citizen" and the boys came up with some great answers.
3.) We had three specials today. We really enjoyed Fitness, Science and Art. In Science class we learned about "momentum" by doing an experiment involving a balloon and a penny.

Ms. Courtney's Class (The Diener Dinosaurs):What a terrific Tuesday!
Today we...
1.) played a really fun parachute game with Miss Brook - at the end we made a parachute tent and all jumped inside!
2.) added new words to our word wall and worked on our handwriting with Miss Brook in language arts.
3.) had science with Miss Llacey, fitness with Mr. Chris, and art with Miss Feinberg - what a great day!

Ms. Kate's Class (The Mighty Dieners):
Today we began with working the election booth! We had a GREAT time asking parents, staff, and students if they would like to participate in the voting process! We even showed everyone how to vote by: handing them a ballot and pencil, explaining that they should vote in the voting booth (since voting is a private thing!) and placing your vote in the "Vote Here" box.
1.) In Language Arts, we learned some important election words (election, vote, ballot, etc) by looking up the definitions. We ended our LA session by playing election bingo!
2.) In Math, we counted the votes! After we very carefully read and tallied the votes, we then graphed the results! We ended Math by coloring in our own "I voted!" certificate!
3.) In Science with Ms. Lacey, we worked on experiments with balloons!!

Mr. Paul's Class (The Golden Owls):
Today in the Golden Owls we:
1.) Worked on drafting from our brainstorming webs during our writing period.
2.) Began our November social studies unit of mapping. We started to map out rooms in the Diener School.
3.) Counted the election ballots and put them on a graph! Obama won!
4.) Had our second science class and did experiments based on hot air balloons.
