The Magic Trains:
Today the Magic Trains…1.) Used the plastic animals from “On the Farm” to act out the story and placed the animals where they belonged. For example, the pig had to go in the mud and the cow had to go in the barn.
2.) Learned about magnets and which objects are attracted to magnets (if you have magnets at home, try to do this over the weekend). We loved learning about magnets!
3.) Practiced subtraction with manipulatives and patterns for review during Math. We worked on patterns using unifix cubes and then drew the patterns. Danielle even sang her pattern!
4.) Sang some of our favorite songs such as “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt” with Ms. Deanna during Music.
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!
The Diener Dinosaurs:
What a fabulous Friday! Today the Diener Dinosaurs...
1.) Broke into our reading groups - we worked in our Explode the Code workbooks, practiced our Handwriting Without Tears worksheets, and drew pictures and wrote sentences about our book 'The Mitten'!
2.) Finished our shapeflakes - they are beautiful! Then we worked on our fine motor circuits.
3.) Did another science investigation - this time we investigated the playground! We looked at all the different textures and materials there, then we came back and wrote about our discoveries in our lab books.
The Mighty Dieners:
1.) We started our letters to President-elect Obama. We will be giving them to our friend, Officer Terence, who took us on a tour of the White House, to try and give them to President Obama after the Inauguration! We drew pictures during Art to go with our letters.
2.) In Math, we added today’s weather picture to our weather calendars and graphed this week’s weather! We then split into groups and worked on different math activities. Some worked on coloring numbers that were before/after a given number, sorting groups of objects and graphing them, or adding 1 more to a number.
3.) In Language Arts, we worked in our Explode the Code books!
The Golden Owls:
1.) We worked on partner letters addressing Barack Obama. Our friend Terrance in the White House will try to pass these letters to our new President.
2.) For O.T. we did a few brain gym activities as well as fine motor circuits fulfilling the multi sensory aspect of The Diener School.
3.) Mrs. Feinberg our Art teacher was unfortunately out today. So we worked on a Team art project. We grouped students together giving them the opportunity to communicate constructively while also using their creativity.
