The Magic Trains:
Today we…
1.) Read The Pigeon Has Feelings Too with Ms. Melissa in Social Skills. The book was about not bossing other people around. We continued our study of feelings by reading and discussing this book. We also read a book about feelings called Big Words.
2.) Practiced writing and working in our Explode the Code books during Language Arts. Ms. Ginny was in our class during Language Arts and was able to give 1:1 attention to two students.
3.) Reviewed the concepts of “thick, thin, top, middle and bottom” during Math. Hands-on objects were used to go over “thick and thin”. We each had to take three different colored cubes and ask a friend which one was on the top, middle and bottom.

The Diener Dinosaurs:
What a magnificent Monday! Today the Diener Dinosaurs...
1.) Talked about what a great time everyone had at Connor's birthday ~ the Madagascar cake and the magician were universal favorites!!
2.) Made amazing 'Smelly Dough' with Miss Jen! We all followed our recipe together to create two kinds of dough - lemon and vanilla. We talked about how each ingredient smelled and felt in our hands, learned about the properties of wet and dry ingredients, and worked together to mix our dough. We each got to pick a scent to take home with us!
3.) Played really cool games in Social Skills with Miss Jen and Miss Melissa! We played feelings bingo and a game about being polite. We did a great job sharing our feelings with each other!
4.) Did our first official experiment as scientists! We mixed syrup, water, and oil in a glass and tried to predict what would happen and why. Then we recorded our findings in our lab books!

The Mighty Dieners:
1.) In Math, we added our Monday weather picture to our weather calendars! Then we started our January Calendar Math questions!
2.) Today, we started our final drafts of our letters to President-elect Obama.
3.) In Fitness, we practiced shooting balls into hoops and did fitness circuits which included: bear crawls, crab walks, sit-ups, jumping jacks, etc! In Music, we each took turns playing on a large drum and making animal walking noises on the drum!

The Golden Owls:
Today in the Golden Owls we had a wonderful Monday.
1.) We made gak with Ms. Jillian which was so much fun.
2.) We practiced our basketball techniques focusing on dribbling, bounce passes and shooting during our fitness class with Coach Dan.
3.) Joseph brought his Legos in and we worked on team building after recess!

It was a great day!
