The Magic Trains:
1.) Danielle and Trevor practiced writing “b” words and reading sight words. Jack and Teddy read “Games We Play” and talked about games that they love to play. At the end of the book it said “We do not play with fire”. The games that Jack likes to play are video games and Wall-E. Teddy said he likes to play soccer.
2.) During Fitness everyone caught different colored Frisbees and placed them on top of different colored cones. They also went on their scooters and pretended that they were bringing bean bags to the seven continents.
3.) During Science the class learned about which objects will sink in water and which objects will float. We talked about “heavy” and “light” as well. This would be a great science project to try in the bathtub too!
The Diener Dinosaurs:
What a terrific Tuesday! Today the Diener Dinosaurs...
1.) Practiced our handwriting with Miss Brook! We worked on the letters N, W, and H. We also read a book called 'What I Like' and talked about different things that we like!
2.) Had science class with Miss Melissa ~ we learned about hypotheses and tried to predict which objects would sink and which would float in regular and salt water. It was so much fun!
3.) Went on a shape scavenger hunt - we found SO many squares in The Diener School! Then we compared numbers and talked about which numbers were bigger and which were smaller.
The Mighty Dieners:
1.) This morning we each got story/coloring book of Martin Luther King, Jr. We read the book and talked about why he is so important. We then talked about dreams we have and things we would want to happen, followed by watching Martin Luther King, Jr’s “I Have a Dream” speech.
2.) We finished our final draft letters to President-Elect Obama!
3.) In Science, we learned about making a prediction and a hypothesis! We also learned about buoyancy and the idea of sinking versus floating!
The Golden Owls:
1.) We are beginning our investigations/observations of important and famous people we admire. We are working in pairs building collaboration and communication. Some of the people we are learning about include; Barak Obama, Martin Luther King Jr., Dalai Lama, and Oprah Winfrey.
2.) In writing we are finalizing our letters to the new President cooperatively. We are also continuing with our papers about 3 things we wish to do in 2009.
3.) For O. T. we completed our sensory stations working on fine motor skills. We also did several brain gym activities such as crossing our midline, wall push ups, calf pumps, lazy eights, and double doodles.
