The Magic Trains:
1.) Read a book with Ms. Jen called “Martin’s Big Words”. We talked about Dr. Martin Luther King Junior and the kids loved the pictures in the book. We talked about Dr. King’s dream and asked the kids about their own dreams. Jack said he wanted to go to “Dinosaur Kingdom”. Teddy said he wanted to play with trains. Trevor said that he wanted mommy to pick him up from school. Danielle said that she wanted to sing.
2.) Read a sight word book called “Don’t Be Afraid, Monster”. The sight words from the book were “don’t”, “be”, “there” and “under”.
3.) Practiced different yoga positions for the first time with Ms. Melinda. We felt so relaxed after yoga.
The Diener Dinosaurs:
1.) Began to make our very own 'What I Like' books! We also read a poem about how the letters T and H work together and played a game of 'What's Gnu?'!
2.) Had our very first yoga class with Miss Melinda! We learned the Mountain, Dog, Snake, and Triangle poses, used a special breathing ball to practice taking deep breaths, and ended our class by saying 'Namaste'!
3.) Learned about CARB and talked about our upcoming field trip in science! Then we did an experiment with some special 'magic' bugs - we put them in cups of water and are going to check tomorrow to see if they have grown!
The Mighty Dieners:
1.) Today we had yoga with Ms. Melinda and practiced walking like bears!
2.) We made play-doh with Ms. Jen in speech and worked on following directions.
3.) We had social skills with Ms. Melissa and played a game about emotions and our feelings.
The Golden Owls:
1.) In Math we are continuing with adding strategies. We are using white boards, puzzles, flashcards, and cubes to apply a multisensory approach.
2.) In Language Arts, in addition to our comprehension strategies we are utilizing the 5 w's. Who, What, When, Where, and Why to help remember what we are reading.
3.) In social skills with Ms. Melissa we discussed compliments, feelings, and positive communication while role playing.
