The Magic Trains:
1.) Practiced Handwriting with Ms. Brook. We practiced writing the letter “T” and learned that we first have to draw a big line down and then a little line across. Our class also worked on identifying words that start with “th” with Ms. Jen.
2.) Practiced positions such as “downward dog” with Ms. Melinda during Yoga. We also did our sun salutations and relaxed with cushions on our eyes.
3.) Played Math games such as “Go Fish” and “Uno” during Math in the afternoon.
The Diener Dinosaurs:
What a wonderful Wednesday! Today the Diener Dinosaurs...
1.) Read a book called "Big Bear, Little Bear" and made our own storyboards about it! We discussed the beginning, middle, and end of the story.
2.) Did our math circuits-we practiced writing our numbers, working with manipulatives, and making patterns.
3.) Had a relaxing time in our second yoga class!
4.) Continued our experiments in science about things that float and sink! We picked different items from the classroom, made predictions, and then tested them to see if they would float or sink. Then we talked about why certain things float and certain things sink!
The Mighty Dieners:
1.) We started a new Science experiment today! We took 2 white carnations and 2 white roses and put each flower in a cup of water. We then added food coloring to the cups of water! We are predicting that the white flower petals will change colors as they sit in the colored water!
2.) In Social Skills we talked about feelings! We read a book about being embarrassed and then drew pictures of a time we felt embarrassed.
3.) We finished our final draft letters to President Obama! They will be sent to the White House this week!
The Golden Owls:
1.) In math we are beginning regrouping and subtraction strategies. We broke off into pairs using flashcards, white boards and manipulatives to make learning fun!
2.) In writing we are continuing with punctuation and capitalization. We also began topic sentences adding supporting sentences using lots of details and examples.
3.) As a class we went over yesterdays Presidential Inauguration. We watched Barack Obama's speech and discussed our thoughts and opinions.
